4/5/1998: The First Sunday Strip: (G/Cr) Angelica introduces the Rugrats to upside-down cake. (From a microfilm copy of The Washington Post.)

4/6/1998 - 4/11/1998: The First Week of Daily Strips: (G/Cr) Stu & Didi spend quality time with Tommy.

4/13/1998: First Strip Inked By Will Blyberg: (G/Cr/Bl) Chuckie pays a visit to Tommy's house.

5/25/1998 - 5/27/1998: (G/Cr/Bl, no Bl on 5/25) Various wordless strips featuring cookies, sandbox, and Spike's bath.

6/1/1998: First Gary Fields Strip: (G/Fl/Bl) Tommy plays with stamps.

6/2/1998: (G/Fl/Bl) Tommy & Angelica argue over her baby pictures.

6/8/1998: (G/Cr/Bl) Susie & Angelica compare bike bells to bike horns. (In this strip, Susie has the Cynthia bell while Angelica has the Reptar horn. Shouldn't this be the other way around? Angelica is more of a fan of Cynthia than Susie is.)

6/15,26,27/1998: (G/Fl/Bl) The Rugrats at the beach / sandbox; Tommy on motorcycle / Tommy & Didi on mall escalator; Rugrats on moon / Rugrats in backyard. (These were not the first such strips (I lost the first one from 5/30/1998), but there were several of these during the strip's early days.)

7/20/1998-7/25/1998: First Kyle Baker Strips: (G/Ba) Fun with Reptar.

8/2/1998: First Appearance of Boris & Minka: (G/Ba) Boris & Minka read their own versions of "Little Red Riding Hood".

8/3/1998-8/8/1998: First Rodrigues Strips: (Anon)(Art by Rodrigues, but never credited) Angelica has fun with Cynthia.

9/20/1998: (G/Ba) The infamous synogogue strip. (I am presenting this strip here in its entirety for strictly historical purposes only. For details on the aftermath after the strip's publication, click here.)

9/27/1998-10/3/1998, 10/5/1998-10/11/1998: (dailies G/Fl/Bl, Sundays G/Ba) The Rugrats go to the beach.

10/4/1998: (G/Ba) Afraid of the doctor, Tommy escapes from Didi. Tommy shouldn't worry, as this trip is for Didi, now pregnant.

10/23/1998: (G/Rd) Didi has an appointment with Dr. Lucy; a sonogram reveals that the baby is going to be a girl. However, in the plot of the film, they were wrong when Didi gives birth to a boy.

11/8/1998: (Anon, possibly G/Ba) Everyone who's anyone watches and likes Dummi Bears, even the adults. The only exception, of course, is Angelica.

11/9/1998-11/11/1998: (G/Fl/Bl) Stu, Didi & Tommy look through Tommy's baby book.

11/15/1998: (G/Ba) Stu & Didi remember when Tommy was born.

11/23/1998-11/27/1998: First Appearance of Dil; First Tim Harkins Strip: (G/Ha/Bl) Dil's first few days of life.

12/5/1998: First Gordon Kent Strip: (Ke/Ha/Bl) The Rugrats' parents are away at dinner, toasting their liberation from them; the Rugrats are back at home, toasting their liberation from their parents.

12/13/1998: First Lee Nordling Strip: (No/Fl/Bl) Angelica asks, "what's behind the fence?"

12/25/1998: First Christmas Strip, In Date Only: (Ke/Rd/Bl) Didi feeds Tommy, without success.

12/28/1998: (Ke/Cr/Bl) Chuckie sucks his thumb.

1/12/1999-1/14/1999: (Ke/Ha/Bl) Angelica tells nursery rhymes to Tommy & Chuckie.

1/25/1999: First Vince Giarrano Strip: (Ke/Gi/Bl) A brief look at Tommy's day, ending with his bottle at bedtime.

2/21/1999: (Ke/Gi/Bl) Tommy counts.

3/1/1999: First Scott Roberts Strip as Writer: (Ro/Gi/Bl) Angelica likes books -- for climbing.

3/10/1999-3/11/1999: (Ke/Ha/Bl) Tommy sucks his thumb.

3/24/1999: (Ro/Gi/Bl) "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Don't know? "Too bad. Bye."

3/27/1999: First Chuck Kim Strip: (Km/Gi/Bl) Angelica would rather pick on Chuckie, instead of Tommy.

4/5/1999-4/8/1999: (Ke/Ha/Bl) Angelica tells more fairy tales to Tommy & Chuckie.

5/9/1999: (Ro/Ha/Bl) Chuckie believes, "Stand on a crack, bring your mother back"; Angelica was about to correct and insult him, but knowing the circumstances, she didn't. (See "Mother's Day")

7/19/1999: First Scott Roberts Strip as Penciller: (Ke/Ro/Bl) Angelica sings one of her favorites, "Clementine".

8/24/1999: (Ke/Ro/Bl) "Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl named Angelica who lived happily ever after. The End."

10/13/1999: (Ro/Bl) Phil & Lil play cards, drawing a Joker and a card that lists the rules.

10/25/1999-10/31/1999: (Ke/Ro/Bl) The Rugrats are in their Halloween costumes, trying to scare Chuckie, with the usual success. Meanwhile, Chuckie refuses to come out from under his bed covers until Halloween is over.

12/25/1999: Another Christmas Strip, Hold The Christmas: (Ke/Gi/Bl) Phil & Lil talk about growing up.

1/16/2000: (Ke/Gi/Bl) Why Tommy likes summer. (Never mind that this strip was first published during the middle of winter.)

4/7/2000: (G/Ro/Bl) Angelica's parents "force' the alphabet to her.

7/26/2000: (Ke/Gi/Bl) Drew shows Angelica a picture of himself when he was her age.

7/27/2000-7/28/2000: First J. Torres Strip: (To/Gi/Bl) Angelica wants a Cynthia beach house that's priced at about $4000.

9/20/2000: (G/Gi/Bl) Angelica makes her own wallpaper. (Never mind what happened in The Art Fair.)

11/26/2000-12/9/2000: First Appearance of Kimi: The Rugrats go to Paris.

12/10/2000-12/16/2000: (Ke/Ro/Bl) Back home, Chuckie is excited that he has a new sister, Kimi.

12/25/2000: First Real Christmas Strip, Sort Of: (Ke/Ro/Bl) Phil likes his old toys better.

3/31/2001: (Ke/Ro/Bl) It's Phil & Lil's birthday.

4/28/2001: (Ro/Bl) Chuckie says "no" to everything, even if he means "yes".

4/30/2001: First Mark Bilgrey Strip: (Bg/Ro/Bl) Angelica talks to the mirror.

5/13/2001: (Ro/Bl) Chuckie is having trouble finding a perfect present for Mother's Day.

7/16-21,23-28/2001: (Ke/Ro/Bl) The Rugrats think about what will happen in 10 years.

9/11/2001: (Bg/Ro/Bl) Angelica's desire to eat crayons causes her to get a cookie.

9/23,30/2001: (Ke/Ro/Bl) Chuckie keeps saying "no".

11/22/2001: (Ke/Ro/Bl) Everybody celebrates Thanksgiving -- in costume.

12/17-22, 24-29/2001: (Ke/Ro/Bl) Tommy would like a "fire-breathing" Reptar toy for Christmas.

2/18/2002: (Ke/Ro/Bl) Tommy & Stu walk through a crowd of people. (Look for Rocket Power's Otto Rocket in the crowd.)

3/25/2002: (Ro/Bl) Tommy & Chuckie play superheroes -- a rescue worker and a fireman.

11/17/2002: First John Zakour Strip: (Za/Ro/Bl) Angelica orders the rain to stop -- and it does.

1/13/2003-1/18/2003: First Appearance of Taffy: (Za/Ro/Bl) Didi introduces Taffy to the Rugrats.

4/27/2003: Final Sunday strip: (Za/Ro/Bl) Tommy makes "one giant leap" on the stairs.

4/28-5/3/2003: Final Week: (Ke/Ro/Bl) Tommy says goodbye.
