Nick Flicks -- Too Much Of A Good Thing

If you are a regular TV viewer, there is one part of summer that many dread, and that's reruns. But if you're a regular Nick viewer in the US, there's an even greater evil -- Nick Flicks.

Every summer, from the start of July until the end of September, Nick takes most, if not all, of the Snick schedule off and replaces them with Nick Flicks -- movie-length episodes of your favorite Nick programs. Nick Flicks would've been a great alternative to the repeats on the networks, but there's one problem -- they show the same ones over and over again, week in and week out, year in and year out.

And while Nick Flicks are supposed to end at the start of fall, they are, more or less, open ended, which means that they end when Nick says they end, providing an opportunity to show the same ones over and over again, ad nauseum.

On this page, I'll present the latest Nick Flick schedule, plus give you details on Nick Flicks in 2001, the year that Nick Flicks got out of hand.

Nick Flicks in 2001

On 7/7/2001, Nick began presenting 90-minute "movies" of various Nicktoons -- a couple (and I do mean, "a couple") new, the rest previously seen or repeated again, and again, and again -- as was was to have been a Summer replacement for Snick. On this date, the first of these specials, featuring As Told By Ginger, deals with Ginger and her friends going to summer camp. That Nick Flick was seen 7 times in prime-time between July 7 and January 5. And in the end, it ended up featuring some live-action Nick Flicks, and almost presented an animated non-Nicktoon Nick Flick. It should be noted that the new Snick lineup was to have begun on September 29, but has been delayed until January 19. Because of this, Nick Flicks remained indefinitely, though they could've very easily put Snick repeats on in its place. Here is what was seen (prime-time telecasts in 2001-2002 only):
